Self love for me hasn’t been a process of learning to love myself, its been a process of lots of little steps, actions and anchors that over time release the pain, guilt, anger, fear and other blocks that has stopped me seeing that I am already love.

I was never not love.

I only covered it up,

with my hurts, my guilt, my anger and fear in particular. I was ashamed so I hid behind busyness, I hid behind bright loud clothes, or pretending to be overly confident, or eating food. I hid my true self by being someone else, someone that everyone would like. I hid behind saying yes to everyone else and no to me, my heart and my gut.

How did it change?

Not by telling myself to love myself, not with affirmations or getting my hair done, not with buying myself a new dress or shouting myself coffee…..

I spent time in silence,

Creating space,

To reconnect with her,

with me,

and then I starting writing down all the things that were important to me. My values.

And then I started doing them one by one.

One of my values is space. I value space, it makes me feel expansive. Therefore I want and need it in my life. Daily. Otherwise I am out of alignment with my values and the consequence is not pretty.

So as a busy mum how do I create space?

I multi-task.

But not in the trying to do 10 things at one, and then forget that I had a pot on the stove kind of way. I anchor space into tasks I am already doing. Like having a shower.

This is a body scrub recipe that I use to rub into the parts of my body I want to love more while talking to this body part like someone I love very dearly. My thighs, I love the way you give me my womanly shape, My bum I love the way you catch peoples attention and provide nice cushioning when I sit. You are so beautiful…..

Caffeine is often used in fat burning products and in this scrub it supports reduction of cellulite and increases blood flow to the areas you scrub. Being a stimulant coffee is powerful at waking up and giving your skin new life. Coffee is also a dietetic so can reduce the fluid retention within your fat cells allowing them to shrink.

Coconut oil then goes on to soften and moisturise the skin minimising wrinkles and sagging.

Both are rich in antioxidants and the course texture allows for the gentle removal of dead skin cells to let you new cells shine through.

Grapefruit Essential Oil is the oil of honouring the body. Physically it reduces cravings, assists weight loss, reduces cellulite and emotional eating. Emotionally it encourages respect and self love of your body, taking responsibility for feelings instead of avoiding them with food. Grapefruit teaches true love and acceptance that no food can. Grapefruit is an excellent oil to take you from negative emotions to positive.
