WORDS ON HARMONY

Hi, my name is Peta and I recently had the pleasure of welcoming Nat as guest speaker at the launch
of my business, Harmonious Hands. As I specialise in Massage & Complementary Therapies, the
motto for my business is “helping restore harmony”. I would like to share with you, some personal
insights about harmony and what it means for you and I.

Whilst reading one of Nat’s articles in her Psych section, one phrase that stood out for me in
particular was “live in harmony with your values”. Well, it’s likely that each of us would have heard
the word ‘harmony’ at some point in our lives. But how many of us live in harmony?

Do you live in harmony with yourself and in harmony with others? Do you live in harmony with your
values, even? The word ‘harmony’ as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, is;

the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole
the state of being in agreement or concord

I believe that a happy life is a harmonious one. To maintain this harmony in ourselves and in our
lives, it is important to nurture the diving being that is, you. In my personal opinion, that is – to live
from the heart. Nat’s statement to live in harmony with your values is therefore, a very valid point.
To elaborate, I’d like to add a few rules of thumb that I tend to live by;

1. IF IT FEELS WRONG – IT PROBABLY IS
If something in your life feels like a painful chore that you dread the thought of, it might be
time to rethink whether “it” should be a part of your life or not.
2. IF IT PLEASES YOU – DO MORE OF IT
When there is something in your life that gives you complete and utter joy – do it as often as
possible! If you love it – do it.
3. IF IT HELPS OTHERS – HAPPY DAYS!
If your day to day activities involve helping others, or if you do a random act of kindness
here and there – either way, it’s great thing to do and will lift your spirit, too!

Simply put, if you do the right thing by yourself and also the right thing by others – it is likely that
you will feel more in harmony with life, in general. I’m sure we’ve all experienced times when it
feels as if harmony is lost and everything feels just out of place? Perhaps next time you’re feeling
this way, those three simple steps might help.

Now, I don’t have a PhD in Psychology, nor am I a Guru, spiritual counsellor or the like. I am simply
an old soul on a spiritual path, in a worldly existence. Today I wish to impart my knowledge to you
and wish you a future filled with peace and joy.

Oh, and if you’d like to start restoring harmony in the earthly vessel that is your body – come and
see me!
